Nuptial Mass Music Hymns, chants and celebrations
Igor Stravinsky Les Noces
You are invited to celebrate Russian Weddings: Vows – a stupendous evening in Bath Abbey celebrating the Slavic genius of Stravinsky and Russian Orthodox music, performed by 69 musicians... with flowers and wedding cake.
Igor Stravinsky’s joyous cantata, Les Noces, sensationally recreates a village wedding. Scored for large choir, four vocalists, four grand pianos and four percussionists, it captures a peasant community’s excitement, pride and humour, revelling in the wild world of folktales, ritual, and Fiddler on the Roof-style gossip from friends and family.
We are honoured to welcome back to Bath the great male voice choir, Arte Corale from Moscow. Their huge, powerful sound personifies the glory and drama of the Russian Orthodox Church with glorious Nuptial Mass music.
