Opening with John Tavener’s brief, mystical tribute to the Orthodox Church, Natalie performs one of Bach’s most searching solo suites, no.5 in C minor, and a special commission for Bath Music Festival from Fyfe Dangerfield: a young composer with several major works under his belt, as well as a founding member of the popular indie band The Guillemots. To finish, Kodály’s muscular masterpiece, which reflects on Hungarian folk music and pushes the performer to new heights.
