Bath International MusicFest

Learning & Participation

Bath Festivals' Learning & Participation Programme

Bath Festivals' Learning & Participation programme...developing the enquiring mind.

Bath Festivals produces a year round education programme bringing a great range of opportunities for young people to engage and develop their creativity through music.

In 2011 we will be working with 13 schools and composer Adriano Adewale to create an original piece of music to open Party in the City and the Abbey will be filled with the voices and sounds of 200 school children from schools across Bath and North East Somerset.

Also at Party in the City, our By Jove project, which aims to get young people involved in the music industry, will be filling the egg with a unique Bath blend of the latest urban sounds.

We will be taking up residence at Writhlington School where performers from Folkworks will be running workshops with the students and performing for the school and their local community. Don’t miss our Schools Ticket Offer for the Folkworks concert in the Guildhall.

During the festival we are working in partnership with the egg theatre where Creative Sound Factory will be in residence for the weekend. In this project young people can get together with professional musicians to create original music which they then perform live. We are delighted that Soweto Kinch will be the guest tutor at this Creative Sound Factory.

Our Let’s Play: Piano  day offers children the opportunity to create musical scores for a specially prepared mechanical piano and later in the day lapsed piano players can attend a one to one session to explore how they can revive their playing.

And finally there is still time for a few more Primary Schools to take part in our vibrant Festival Procession. Working with artists and the Holburne Museum, schools will create wonderful artworks to celebrate the Brazilian carnival.
