Bath’s Art Deco Forum is the venue for a fabulously glamorous evening celebrating
the power of dance, with film clips and narration. The Orchestra of English National Ballet makes its debut at Bath International Music Festival with some of the greatest ballet music ever written, from the jazzy swagger of The Montagues and Capulets in Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet to the heart-rending climax of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake

The programme also includes a tribute to the music of Diaghilev’s groundbreaking Ballet Russes company, twinning the exotic tales of A Thousand and One Nights in Scheherazade with Nijinsky’s most famous solo, immortalized in Le Spectre de la Rose. A blissful evening, dipping into the impossibly romantic world of classical ballet.

Don’t miss the principal dancers of the English National Ballet performing at Bath Abbey on Saturday 5 June

Dance: The Rhythm of Life

Stravinsky wrote there were two vital ingredients to music: melody and dance. There’s always plenty of tunefulness in our programming, and this year Bath International Music Festival has a special focus on the power of dance, particularly ballet: the romance and sweeping drama, the onstage glamour and backstage stories.

Mark your dance card, pick up your dancing shoes: this year is a treat!
